The American Citizen Services unit always welcomes the opportunity to expand our network of Citizen Liaison Volunteers (CLV) to ensure we are able to communicate as effectively as possible with U.S. citizens in the event of an emergency. We are looking for volunteers in various regions of Ukraine.
Citizen Liaison Volunteers are private U.S. citizens who help the Embassy help U.S. citizens in need. They assist travelers in distress, help us track down missing U.S. citizens, and, in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency, help us locate other American citizens so we can help get them to safety. Volunteers are usually American citizens who are longer-term residents of Ukraine and, ideally, speak some Ukrainian or Russian. Please note that this is a voluntary position that does not involve financial reimbursement.
We always need CLVs in major areas like Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, Crimea, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Kropyvnytskyi, Luhansk, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Uzhgorod, Vinnytsya, Volyn, Zaporizhzhya, and Zhytomyr. Volunteers in smaller cities and rural areas are also uniquely important because those can be the hardest places for us to reach in an emergency.
If you would like to volunteer to assist U.S. citizens in your community please do the following:
- E-mail us at KyivACS@state.gov to express interest. Please confirm you are a U.S. citizen and tell us where you live, how long you have been in Ukraine, and what languages you speak.
- Provide us with your daytime phone number and an e-mail address that you check on regular basis.
We will then provide you with additional documents to read, complete, and return.
Thank you in advance for your interest!
