As you may know, the American Citizen Services unit recently hosted a town hall meeting in Kyiv for all U.S. citizens living in Ukraine. The turnout was excellent, and we received positive feedback from attendees. We understand that it is not easy for everyone to travel to Kyiv, so we would like to host a meeting in your region to give you the opportunity to meet with fellow Americans and Embassy staff. The town hall meeting will take place in Dnipropetrovsk on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the Window on America Center that is located in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Research Library at 18 K. Marks Avenue in Dnipropetrovsk. The town hall will be held between 14:00 p.m. and 15:00 p.m. We can discuss topics including safety and security, voting in the upcoming general elections, Social Security and other federal benefits, as well as other topics of importance to you.
One issue we will be certain to discuss is the Embassy’s warden system. We are in the process of rebuilding our network of wardens to ensure that we are able to communicate as effectively as possible with U.S. citizens in the event of an emergency. We are looking for volunteers to serve as wardens in your region, so if you think you or someone you know may be interested – or just want to learn more – let us know! A more detailed explanation of a warden’s duties and responsibilities can be found here (PDF 88 KB – Get Adobe Reader) for your convenience.
We also invite all U.S. citizens interested in receiving routine services to arrive AFTER the town hall, between 15:00 p.m. and 16:00 p.m. Please note that the services will not be provided after 16:00 p.m. so please plan your visit accordingly and come as early in the hour as possible. Services available will include notary services and acceptance of passport and Consular Report of Birth Abroad applications. In addition to any required documents listed on our website, please make sure you have photocopies of all your originals and translations with you. If you need a passport for a child under the age of 16, please understand that in almost every circumstance both parents and the child must come in person to submit the application. Please note that all fees must be paid in exact change in U.S. dollars only.
Please RSVP in order to register your interest in the town hall meeting, the warden network, or to make an appointment for citizen services. Please email your full name, passport number, contact phone number and the type of service you are requesting tokyivacs@state.gov or call us at +38-044-521-5566 by 4:00 p.m. on October 19, 2015. You can get in touch with us using the same phone number and email address if you have any questions.
We hope to see you there!
Best regards,
