Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today. Secretary Pompeo and President Zelenskyy discussed ongoing U.S. assistance to Ukraine during the COVID-19 crisis, including the planned delivery of much-needed medical lab equipment. Secretary Pompeo thanked President Zelenskyy for Ukraine’s support in repatriating U.S. citizens and residents, including more than 200 Peace Corps volunteers. The Secretary and the President also stressed the continued importance of access to Russia-controlled areas of Ukraine’s Donbas region, where Russia-led forces continue to mount attacks and prevent the work of humanitarian organizations and OSCE monitors.
