Secretary Kerry met today with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the ASEAN Ministerial in Kuala Lumpur.
They discussed the situation in Ukraine and the steps that need to be taken see the Minsk Agreement fully implemented.
They also covered the situation in Syria, to include the importance of finding a political solution and the need to continue to address the Asad regime’s possession and potential use of chemical weapons.
The agenda of the upcoming UN General Assembly figured into the conversation, especially plans to address international efforts to counter violent extremism.
