Good evening, everybody.
Tomorrow, Americans will pause to celebrate the Declaration of Independence – the inspiring words that forged our nation.
That all people have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
And that ours is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
That means, that our elected representatives need to advance the best interests of the people, not themselves.
It means that leaders need to be accountable and transparent.
Americans call that Rule of Law; here that concept was at the heart of the Revolution of Dignity, aiming to create a new Ukraine.
Over the years, our shared values and shared interests have strengthened the bonds between the U.S. and Ukraine.
And together, we work to firmly anchor an independent Ukraine in a Europe whole, free, and at peace.
So it is fitting that as we celebrate American Independence, we also celebrate 25 years of a strong bilateral relationship.
I thank all of our many friends for coming and celebrating with us; my colleagues at the Embassy who have worked so hard to make today’s celebration possible, as well as to the many businesses that generously contributed to today’s reception.
Please make yourselves at home and enjoy the party.
Happy Independence Day, America і Слава Україні!!
