Girls Empowerment Soccer Camp Program Overview

The Sports Visitor Program is a two-week sports-based international exchange program that introduces participants to American excellence, leadership, and best practices in sports – from community-based recreational youth play to professional leagues.

Youth will celebrate the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup on the field with American peers while learning about the history of Title IX and female sports in the U.S. It entails a thematic-based sports camp, where participant’s experience is devoted to on-the-field sports training (40%) and off-the-field in classroom workshops, community engagement, and site visits (60%).

Camp participants must share a common language, as noted above, but all camps will be multi-country and/or multi-regional. Participants should also be prepared to stay in double occupancy dorms and with host families while they are on the program.

Costs for both international travel to the U.S. and domestic travel within the U.S., as well as all costs associated with participants’ stay in the U.S. will be covered.

All fees associated with obtaining visas (including associated travel or lodging expenses for candidates to engage the consular section) and documentation to process the J-1 visa will be covered by the Sports Visitor Program.

Program coordinators will implement a comprehensive online pre-departure orientation before participants travel.  The orientation will be facilitated through e-mail, skype, Facebook, interactive webinars, or a customized website.
