American Folk Band Concerts Facilitated by U.S. Embassy

Event PosterOld Grey Goose, an American traditional and folk and roots music band based in Maine, will tour Ukraine November 2-8, with concerts in Kyiv, Poltava, and Sumy.  In 2014 and 2015, the Embassy sponsored performances of another traditional music band, “The Tumbling Bones.” Those concerts were so successful that the Embassy decided to bring more of this essentially American style to Ukrainian audiences.  In addition to their concerts, the group will give workshops, masterclasses, and presentations about folk music.

In Poltava, the ”Old Grey Goose” performance will be the headline event of “America Days in Poltava”, a two-day festival highlighting American music, education, and art, as well as U.S. Embassy programs here in Ukraine.

Old Grey Goose International (OGGI) plays old-time dance tunes on a variety of acoustic instruments; sings songs of love, work, diversity, and achievement from the vast repertoire of American folk history; and teaches regional dances representing multi-cultural traditions. The band promotes multi-cultural appreciation and understanding through the performance and exchange of traditional song and dance.
